Image guided interventional radiology

Image guided surgery and interventional radiology are fast growing domains in the medical field. These technics based on real time image acquisition and processing, enable the use of different imaging modalities/devices inside the room for surgical guidance, instruments guidance, treatment monitoring, …

The intraoperative nature of IGS and IR requires the control of additional parameters such as recording and compensation of physiological motions, development of instruments compatible with the environment, development of robotic devices going into the ope room and directly connected to the intraoperative imaging equipment, navigation systems, augmented reality systems…

Any types of modalities can be used: magnetic resonance imaging, scanner, CT, computed tomography, X ray, fluoroscopy, ultrasound…

The WP3 gathers different communities of scientists and medical doctors to develop new medical procedures and systems to assist the surgeons.

To reach these objectives, the WP3 is composed of 5 working groups:

  • Navigation and augmented reality

  • Robotic devices

  • MR imaging guided surgery

  • Therapeutic HIFU

  • New intraoperative imaging modalities
